Confirmation - By ROME or Church of Ireland

The following article appears in the 8 June 2007 ' Church of Ireland Gazette' Click Here to see for yourself.

It would appear that the Church of Ireland now has to not only ask for permission from the Jesuits to have a Confirmation, but get them to prepare their candidates. I wonder what the 'evangelical wing' of the church has to say about this?

The Bishop of Meath and Kildare, the Most Revd Richard Clarke, recently administered confirmation in the chapel of the Co. Kildare Jesuit College, Clongowes Wood. Dr Clarke confirmed the Church of Ireland pupil, Bevan Murray, who comes from Greystones, Co. Wicklow, at the invitation of the Jesuit Community and after Bevan had been prepared for confirmation by Fr Conor Harper SJ, Director of Spirituality at Clongowes. The confirmation, according to the Church of Ireland rite, with Holy Communion, was approved by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, the Most Revd James Moriarty.
